Laptop Lending

About Our Program

The Laptop Lending Program is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The purpose is to make computer access more broadly available and convenient to Gilpin County residents.

Requirements:

To borrow a laptop, patrons must meet all of the following criteria:
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Reside in Gilpin County.
  • Possess a Gilpin County Public Library Card. Click here to register.
  • Provide identification with proof of current address.
  • Complete and sign the Laptop Lending Agreement and Waiver.

How it works:
  • Patron may reserve a laptop in the catalog or inquire about availability at the Circulation Desk.
  • Laptops are checked out and returned to staff at the Circulation Desk.
  • The loan period for a laptop is one week.
  • Laptops can be renewed up to two times if not on hold for another patron.
  • Patron is fully responsible for the laptop during the checkout period, including damaged, missing, or unreturned equipment.

About the laptops:
  • Laptops are Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series.
  • Laptops have Microsoft Office Standard applications (Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word) installed.
  • Laptops are set to restore to their original condition after every reboot. They do not save files, web history, personal information, etc.
  • Patrons are recommended to save files using an external flash drive or cloud storage to prevent losing data or documents.
